Fallen Wyrms
The Divine Order

The Pantheon and their Dragons

The gods stand in three houses, divided by what they did when the world broke. Each made a dragon in its own image, the firstborn of all living things.

The pantheon is not a family of allies. It is the record of a single choice, made once, under fire, and never undone. When the Fallen tapped the Void and the war began, every god chose, and the choice sorted them into three houses that still define the world. The Withdrawn kept faith and left. The Undivided refused the war and fell to mortality for it. The Fallen's Host followed him into the dark. Mortals wear these allegiances as dragon-heraldry, because each god made a dragon in its own image, and those twelve firstborn are the oldest living things in the world.

The Withdrawn

The loyal gods who kept faith and left the world by judgment, holding that their return would only resume the war that breaks it.

The Sky-King, sovereign of the heavens and of divine law
Sky-King
Withdrawn
Sovereign of the heavens and of divine law, head of the loyal gods. He led the war against the Fallen, then ordered the withdrawal by judgment and holds it as law. His unbending justice may be the very thing keeping salvation out of reach.
The Smith, the divine craftsman and maker of the dwarves
The Smith
Withdrawn
The divine craftsman who laid the world's foundations of stone beside his sister the Earth Mother. Maker of the dwarves and lord of forge and mountain, steadfast and hard to move.
The Champion, the wild joy of life and antithesis of the Void
The Champion
Withdrawn
The wild joy of life and the antithesis of the Void. He fought the Fallen to the stalemate that sundered the world, then withdrew with the rest, so his one true counter to the dark is gone as the light fades.

The Undivided

Gods who could not bring themselves to wage the war, even to save the world, and fell to mortality for their refusal. They still walk the dying world in ruined, human form.

The Loremaster, Silvara, goddess of truth and memory
Loremaster · Silvara
Undivided
Goddess of truth and memory, the withdrawn witness who refused the war in order to record it truly. She walks the world as the Chronicler, keeping the account she will not act to change. Her lost love is the Deceiver.
The Earth Mother, Maren, goddess of the living world
Earth Mother · Maren
Undivided
Goddess of the living world, wife of the Sky-King and sister of the Smith. She would not fight even at her husband's side, because war unmakes the world she is, and fell to mortality for it. Now she wanders in sorrow, doing small mercies.
The Glory-Goddess, Aurelia, goddess of beauty and the arts
Glory-Goddess · Aurelia
Undivided
Goddess of beauty and the arts, whose nature was to be adored. Losing her divinity left her starving for the worship that was once simply her element, and she roams the world begging to be beheld again.
The Sea-Lord, Mauros, god of the tides and the deep
Sea-Lord · Mauros
Undivided
God of the tides and the deep, fickle and irresolute. He could not choose a side in the war, and fell for the indecision itself. Father of the river-spirits, whose flow keeps the world's magic from going stagnant.

The Fallen's Host

The gods who followed the Fallen down into the Void, each for a reason of his own, and became the dark powers of the age.

The War-God, Draegoth, wrath and slaughter given godhead
War-God · Draegoth
Fallen's Host
Wrath and slaughter given godhead, and unlike the others he was always dark. He followed the Fallen for the joy of the killing, and his red dragons are the war-mounts and terrors of the dark host.
The Deceiver, Cael, once the Songlord, now the god of lies
The Deceiver · Cael
Fallen's Host
Once the lord of literature, music, and heroes, and mate of the goddess of wisdom, until he fell for the promise of writing the story of the universe. Now the god of lies and song, patron of the cults, and the Chronicler's truest opposite.
The Rot, Malren, the first leak of the Void into the living world
The Rot · Malren
Fallen's Host
A younger god, and the first leak of the Void into the living world. Blight and decay follow him, and his plague-cults spread rot as worship. Where he passes, the green things sicken.
Shadow, Umbriel, fear itself made of living shadow
Shadow · Umbriel
Fallen's Host
Only a terrified child at the first, who chose the Void for the promise of strength and an end to fear. He became the very thing he fled: fear itself, made of living shadow, a god of night and dread.
The Fallen, Sereth, the god of Time who longed for the Void
The Fallen · Sereth
Fallen's Host
The god of Time, who alone always faced the nothing at the end of things, until the Void's stillness seized him and he longed for it. He cannot be destroyed, only caged, so there will always be a Fallen.

The Twelve Dragons

Each god made a dragon in its own image, and these firstborn are the oldest and mightiest living things in the world. Mortals wear a dragon-sigil to declare which god, and which house, they answer to. To read a banner in the Sundered World is to know whose side its bearer has taken in a war the gods themselves have left.
